Steven Spielberg and Lupin?

According to Dark Horizons, Steven Spielberg is apparently considering directing a live-action movie based on Monkey Punch's Lupin the Third anime series. No details are given on the site. Gerald R. Molen, producer of Schindler's List (directed by Speilberg), acquired the live-action film rights to Lupin the Third back in February
D.C Comics to hire manga editor

It would appear that CD comics is looking to expand into the manga market, and not in the production of their own "American Manga" but rather the acquisition of "commercially successful titles." They are looking for a Manga Editor who's job description would be as follows:
DC Comics seeks an Editor-Manga for the Wild Storm - Talent department. In conjunction with VP Business Development, develops and implements strategy for inbound reprint licensing and publishing of Manga publications. Identifies commercially successful titles for acquisition. Personally edits up to 10 monthly import editions. Oversees translation of foreign language comics and ensures story integrity. Oversees lettering and art corrections. Acts as liaison to Licensor's quality assurance and editorial groups. Coordinates company's co-development efforts creatively. Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Strong understanding of Manga properties and publishers required. Cross-cultural understanding required. Copyediting and proofreading skills required. Excellent organizational skills required. Ability to prioritize and maintain several projects at once required. Proven ability to maintain relationships with freelancers required. Ability to work under strict time constraints required. Familiarity with MAC and PC preferred. Microsoft Word proficiency required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Fluency in written and spoken Japanese preferred. At least 2 years previous editing experience required. Story editing a plus. Previous copyediting and proofreading experience required. Approximately 25% international travel required.
Akira nominated for DVD Award

Pioneer's DTS release of Akira had been nominated for "Best Audio Presentation" at the 6th Annual International Recording Media Association DVD Awards, however it lost out to Minority Report at the awards presentation last night. Akira was the only Anime nominated in any category
F-Zero anime, manga in the works

Nintendo will be releasing an anime and manga based on the F-Zero racing games. F-Zero Falcon Densetsu will begin broadcasting October 7th on TV Tokyo, and the manga is currently under production.
Blood to become a live action?

AICN is reporting that Ronny Yu, the director of Freddy vs. Jason, is currently trying to secure to rights for a live-action adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire.
Kenshin manga moving to new publisher

Viz has officially announced the acquisition of the Hikaru no Go manga. It will be debuting in the January issue of Shonen Jump USA, interestingly however the first 208 page graphic novel will be released 2 months earlier, on November 20th for $7.95
Meanwhile, Rurouni Kenshin, long rumoured to be heading to Shonen Jump USA will not be appearing on the anthology's pages for more than a brief sneak preview of the series in the November issue (on sale October 7, 2003). The first volume of Kenshin in graphic novel format is due to be released by Viz on October 7th, also for $7.95
